GRAPHIC DESIGN

Graphic design is a creative process which combines both technology and art to communicate ideas. Thus, graphic design is a creative process involving a client and a designer. In today’s modern era, graphic design may be applied directly to website, eliminating the need for an intermediary. The designer works with a wide range of tools in order to convey a message from a client to a targeted audience. The main tools are image and typography.
IMAGE BASED DESIGN
Designers develop images to represent the ideas of the client want to convey. Images are unbelievably powerful and convincing tools of communication but also convey moods and emotions in addition to information. Humans have the tendency to respond quickly to the images based on their associations, previous experience and their personalities. In case of image based design, the images must include the entire message. These images may be photogenic, drawn, painted or may be graphically rendered in various different ways. Image based design required when the designer think that a picture is indeed worth a thousand words.
TYPE BASED DESIGN
Sometimes designers use words in place of images to convey a message. The writing style is very much different from the writers. Thus, can grab the attention on a poster; easily identify the product name on the package or a bus. Designers are expert that present the information in a visual form in signs, packaging, film or print. Thus, designers evaluate the message in an extremely efficient and effective way.
IMAGE AND TYPE
To communicate the client’s message a designer often combines typography and images. Designers have to explore all the creative possibilities presented by the words (typography) and images (fine art, photography, illustration). A good designer, therefore, strikes a balance between them. Designer acts as a link between the audience and the client. Hence, unlike the client and the audience, graphic designers know how to create a message and how to present it effectively. A graphic designer has to work with the client in order to understand the content and the purpose of the message. Once the design concept chosen, the designer work with the photographers, illustrators, printers, typesetters and other production specialist to create the final design product.
SYMBOLS, LOGOS AND LOGOTYPES
Logos and symbols are special, highly compressed information forms or identifiers. Symbols are an abstract presentation of a particular identity. Hence, in order to create identifiers, the designer must have a clear cut vision of the idea to be represented and to the audience to whom message directed.
